Pondicherry also known as Puducherry, is one among the seven union territories of India. This French Rivera, located at the East coast part of the South India, still holds the 200 years old historical significance of the Indo – French ethos and hence is known as the Little France of India.

The French Quarters of Pondicherry which is commonly known as the White town has its colonial streets which are adorned by French architecture, whereas the Tamil Quarters symbolizes the traditional Franco – Tamil architecture.

The colonial streets are planned in a grid pattern with perpendicular roads. The typical French mansions, hidden behind the bougainvillea are characterized by various architectural elements like front courtyards, high compound walls, arched doorways, the signature French doors, shades of pastel colors on the facades, windows with bent vertical cast iron bars as grills, can be seen from amidst the tree lined boulevards.

Another architectural attraction includes the Cafés with their peculiar and vibrant interiors. To experience the heritage demeanor the town provides, one must slow travel through the streets
