Igniva Calicut trade center is an iconic structure designed in the heart of Calicut city. The building showcases an magnificent outlook to the existing context. The idea of the project is to generate a built structure which serves to accommodate large events.

The convention center which has a area of 100000sqft falls on to the first phase. The organic geometry of the building generates continuous and fluid spaces which focuses on free movement in a flexible environment.

The most interesting yet challenging approach to the design is a large canopy structure fully designed on steel with a total height upto 15 meters made up of large hexagonal patterns. The facade covers up the entire convention center forming a solid skin on to the built structure.

The canopy has a total of 5 openings. A interconnection with foliage has been made between the skin and the building which acts as a lobby space this not only enhances but also enriches the ambience with the building.

The first phase is on the completion stage. The trade center is one of its kind and a newer design approach for a convention center in Kerala and is by far the largest conventional center in terms of sqft area.
